Every sound here is synthesized in your browser with the Web Audio API. There are no audio files, so there are no loop seams, no buffering, and nothing to pay for.

Each entry sorts what we say into mechanism, evidence, or tradition — and never dresses one up as another. Sample sizes stated, lore reported as lore.
